Why I became interested in family history is a totally mystery to me. Normally I 
would say it was because I noticed a 'how to research your family history' book in a 
magazine, but I think that book only gave me the 'how to' knowledge not the desire to 
discover my family tree, that was possible already there. I have heard that the 
increase interest in family history is about people wanting to connect to their 
distant family and make sense of who they are. For me it is more about not being 
forgotten, because as I have researched my family history and got older, I have come 
to realise that in just four generations I could be forgotten but by collecting all 
this information I am hoping that neither I nor my ancestors will be forgotten.
